Well I was lucky enough yesterday to get a fairly good picture of this conjunction. Here it is. Click to enlarge and have a better look. Venus and Jupiter are at the center of the picture, with Venous being the larger star.
Some astronomers have said that the star guiding the wise men to the place where Christ was born was actually the very bright Venus at a conjunction with Jupiter that occured in 2 A.D.
Just look at the SW sky from about dusk until about 7:00 p.m.
